Workforce development and childcare center coming to Southwest Virginia

"A former shopping center is set to be transformed into a United Way of Southwest Virginia hub. The old Kmart building in Abingdon is where the facility will be. The goal is to turn it into the anchor campus for a region-wide workforce initiative.
This project includes the primary anchor campus in Abingdon, and four smaller facilities located across Southwest Virginia. Thursday, the Wellspring Foundation of Southwest Virginia committed $4 million towards the new center."
