Ignite Career Expo Has Expanded!
The newly constructed workforce exploration center will be open year-round and includes in-class curricula to help K-12 students across Southwest Virginia learn about and connect with local employers. Through school visits, field trips, camps, and special events, an estimated 30,000 students will visit the center annually.
Starting in Fall of 2024, schools can attend in smaller groups and have longer visits at the career simulation and exploration facility. The experience is organized to keep students engaged and learning from the time they arrive until they depart.
Activities and curriculum will align with the Virginia Department of Education’s 17 career clusters and help spur interest in our region's manufacturing and STEM jobs. This is the first facility in our region and is likely to become a hallmark of successful rural workforce development.
