Recovery Fest / 4th Annual Suicide Prevention Walk

Description: The 14th Annual Recovery Fest includes vendors with community resources and free giveaways, food, music, and testimonies given by those in recovery. Frontier Health Prevention Services will be setting up a table to hand out resources and giveaways. We will also be promoting the 4th Annual Walk for Suicide Prevention during Recovery Fest! People can stop by the Prevention Services table to grab a piece of chalk to take on their walk to write positive messages for all to see! We invite people to come walk around town or take a stroll around the greenbelt in memory of those lost to suicide and to spread awareness for those who are still fighting!

Suicide Prevention Month Awareness Event with Kevin Hines

Location: New River Community College, Dublin, VA (Edwards Hall)
Description: Kevin Hines, a best-selling author, global public speaker, and award-winning documentary filmmaker, will speak at New River Community College (NRCC) in Dublin as part of a free event open to the public. Hines attempted to take his own life in the year 2000 by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. Many factors contributed to his miraculous survival, including a sea lion which kept him afloat until the Coast Guard arrived. Hines now travels the world sharing his story of hope, healing, and recovery while teaching people of all ages the art of wellness and the ability to survive pain with true resilience.
